What Is Your Addiction? {Video}

What are you addicted to? Paul wrote that the household of Stephanas had “addicted themselves to the ministry” (1 Corinthians 16:15). How do we still enjoy the things we want to do while being addicted to the ministry? How can we keep the balance and manage our time with everything that we have to do and want to do?

By the way, it’s rather ironic. I’m really wired on my afternoon coffee and I decide to talk to you about addiction… so be ready for bubbly-ness and grammar mistakes galore!

Are You Addicted? {1 Corinthians 6:12}

Update: The podcast is out! Listen here.

Scriptures to Meditate Upon:

“I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,)” (1 Corinthians 16:15).

“All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient [helpful]: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not” (1 Corinthians 10:23).

“All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any” (1 Corinthians 6:12).

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole [duty] of man)” (Ecclesiastes 12:13).

“See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15).

Practical Application {from the Video}

  1. Ask yourself: (A) What am I spending the most of my time doing (B) What do you talk to people about the most? (C) What’s getting in the way of me doing the Lord’s work?
  2. Keep up your communication with God—pray often.
  3. Keep God in every day. Fall more in love with God and His ministry by learning more about them.
  4. Prioritize your time and brain space. You only have so much. Choose a few good things you enjoy and limit time-wasters.
  5. Use even those things  you enjoy as opportunities to reach out and connect. Hobbies and likes help us to connect and identify with others. Use this as you try to reach out to people. Keep your focus and use what you enjoy for good.

Questions: What tools and habits have helped you to create balance in your life? How do you use what you enjoy for the ministry?

  1. Have been thinking about some certain screen addictions I may have… You approach of seeking God all the more in the battle against addictions is also where my head has been. Thank you for the confirmation!!

    1. Thanks for stopping by Adelaide!
      It’s just that with every negative thing you want to get rid of, you either have to replace it with a positive action, or change the direction you are heading with it. If you it is something that can be used for good, use it–but if you find you can’t use it without letting it overtake you, let it go until you can control it. 🙂
      I am glad this helped you in some way. That makes me happy! 🙂
      Blessings! xx
